Sheila Jackson Lee for Mayor

There are several Latino candidates running for Mayor, but being Latino is not sufficient reason to vote for them. Where were they when people from our community needed help? No where to be found. Congresswoman Lee has stood with our community for years. When Jose Escobar was deported to El Salvador Lee was there for him, twice. Congressman Al Green was there for him, also. Congressman Green went to go visit Jose Escobar three times in Salvador.
Congresswoman Lee according to the Associated Press did the following;
“When immigration agents moved in to deport then 26-year old Jose Escobar in 2012, U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Houston, appealed to the head of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for the release of the El Salvador-born handyman.
Escobar, married to an American citizen, was granted “deferred action,” allowing him to work and live legally in the U.S. while immigration officials focused on deporting violent criminals.
When immigration agents moved in to deport then 26-year-old Jose Escobar in 2012, U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Houston, appealed to the head of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for the release of the El Salvador-born handyman.

But that was more than five years and a presidential administration ago.Under executive orders signed last month by President Donald Trump, immigration officials in Houston recently informed Escobar they were revoking his temporary protection from deportation and returning him to El Salvador – a country he hadn’t seen since he left 16 years ago.”
Congresswoman Lee also helped my wife bring her daughter to the United States. When we ran into a roadblock by immigration, Lee was there for us, even though she was not our representative. We can never do enough to pay Congresswoman Lee back for all the help she provided.
My wife and I will both be voting for Sheila Jackson Lee for Mayor of Houston.
