The Sound of the Accordion and Vallenatos

Twentieth Century Nobel Prize-winning author Gabriel García Márquez declared himself a big admirer of the genre – he even dubbed his masterpiece, One Hundred Years of Solitude, a ‘vallenato song of 400 pages’. Today, kids across Colombia ask for accordions for Christmas. Source

The first time I heard that type of gender was when I traveled to Colombia where I met my wife. The second time when I watched Diomedes, el Cacique de La Junta, I have always loved the sound of the accordion from listening to Tejano music. Vallenatos tell stories through their songs. I watched the series about Diaz on Netflix but at the moment it is only available on Fubo TV.

Below is the most known Vallenato and following is a song by Diomedes. The last a Tejano classic.
