I ran across an article by a gay Mexican-American who voted for Trump.

I laughed at how he described himself, as I don’t consider people like him to be men similar to those I grew up with. I am writing this as America has spoken, and being “Woke” is not cool. Below is what the author wrote: So I will be woke sometimes and not so other times. This is one of the not a times to be woken. No “man” I knew would ever label himself as a homosexual. No man I know would put their family at risk of deportation. It is possible that the family he refers to is not as close as brothers or sisters or parents.

I usually don’t a hoot what people are, their sexual orientation, religion, etc. But this guy struck me as what is wrong with too many Trump cult members.

I’m a proud, first-generation, college-educated and gay Mexican American with undocumented family in the United States, including a mother who was previously deported to Mexico, and I experienced homelessness as a child. I am everything Democrats claim to support, right?

Wrong.

The same person went on write the following:

Seeing my undocumented family members, who have been in the U.S. for more than 20 years, work, pay taxes and buy their own homes with zero benefits, then watching millions of new migrants skip the line with government-funded help, only inflamed me and other Latinos like me. When my mother came to America as a single mother of two, she did not get any benefits. This election became personal. It was about my family!

I am very proud to be a Christian, gay Mexican American who voted for Trump.

About being Christian and being Gay.

As New Testament scholar Dr John Nolland persuasively argues, “In the Jewish context of Jesus’ day, and in the Christian context that grew out of it, homosexual coitus would have been automatically embraced within the scope of porneia.”

Jesus’ audiences would have remembered the moral teaching of Leviticus 18, among other passages which make clear that male homosexual sex is ‘detestable’ (NIV) or ‘an abomination’ (ESV).

As to seeing new immigrants get help, would you happen to know what help his family received? The help of not constantly having to look over their shoulders of being deported. Even if deported, it was pretty easy to come back across the border. I know several people who were deported one day and were back a week later.

By the way, if you think they received help, then you should study about all the help the Cubans and Vietnamese got.

The Cuban Refugee Program was created by President Dwight Eisenhower in 1960 and expanded by President John F. Kennedy through the “Migration and Refugee Assistance Act” in 1962. It provided financial assistance, health care, educational loans, resettlement, and care of unaccompanied children for the 1,500-2,000 Cubans arriving weekly. The United States also supported Cuban exodus programs: Operation Pedro Pan (1960-1962), which brought 14,000 unaccompanied children, and the Freedom Flights (1965-1973), during which the US negotiated with the Cuban government to allow relatives of Cuban refugees to relocate. In 1966, the Cuban Adjustment Act allowed Cuban refugees who came after the Revolution and had lived in the United States for two years to pursue permanent resident status.

A friend of mine that I have known most of my life refuses to refer to “Gay” people as gay. As he states, what the hell do they have to be happy about?

I will close with a quote from one of the comments posted on the article since I will be doing the same and laughing at how the words “that college doesn’t” give anyone common sense are so true. Following are a few other quotes.

Buckle up and enjoy the ride.

I’ll be sipping my coffee when rounding begins

love how this guy multiple times feels the need to remind us that he’s “Christian, gay, college-educated US-Born Mexican American”, then calls the Democrats “obsessed with labels”.

I also like the part where he’s complaining that his undocumented family didn’t get any free benefits when they illegally crossed the border. So he doesn’t seem to have any problem with swarms and swarms of illegals, it’s the fact that they’re getting taken care of, which is so unfair?

Dude seems slightly confused.

I personally don’t care what you are but you do realize that you voted for the man and the party that wants to eliminate your race and you sexual affiliation? I will never understand how you could rationalize this choice!

I don’t know if this is the funniest or saddest thing I’ll read today.

“Which leads us to Latinos. Democrats, we are not Latinx or Latine; we are Latinos and Latinas.”

Mr Peterson’s record doesn’t seem to reflect the beliefs he presents in this editorial:

J Marcos Peterson:

Senior Consultant, Diversity & Inclusion and Strategy, Marcos Central  (2019-2021) “Manage multiple projects within the Latinx, LGBTQ+, and Persons with Disability communities, domestic and international, while creating and operationalize plans to enable clients and businesses to progress on goals and productivity.”

President and Owner, Marcos Central (14 years): Managed over 1,000+ clients and operated all aspects of the company that served as an advisory location to the Latinx and Immigrant community for services not limited to financial, administrative, and acculturating services.

Looks like Mr Peterson was all in for woke causes and then found something more lucrative to do with his time.
