Many, many years ago, I used to coach the Junior Varsity team for the high school where I taught. We were having a very good year and on the verge of winning district.
Our first game with the school that always won the district was on their field. We lost the game because of bad referees. The team complained to me, and I agreed with them about the referees. I told them that the home team hires the referees, and we could vote whether to play by the same rules as they, cheat, or play without resorting to cheating.
The next game we had with the school that we had lost to, our referees were clearly being biased toward us. Their coach came over to complain to me. I reminded him that he didn’t seem to mind when they did that to us.
The moral of the story.
Sometimes, if you want to win, you must play by the same rules.
If the Republicans insist that President Biden can close the border by executive action. He should do it, taking money from infrastructure money that is destined for those states that claim that he must stop the invasion that isn’t occurring. As soon as Biden freezes those funds and starts using them for border control, they will go crazy and take him to court, claiming he does not have the right to do that.
Play by the same rules they are playing.
Cheating as American as apple pie.
