I live in Briones district and was surprised when one of her staff recently spoke out against County Judge Lina Hidalgo. The staff member stated that Lina Hidalgo was intensely disliked and suggested or implied that Hidalgo would drag down other people in the Democratic Party in 2026. Lina Hidalgo suffers the same curse that Hillary Clinton and Shelia Jackson-Lee suffered, that curse being that the Republicans make them a target and never stop making them a target. The Republicans will find something to whine about no matter what they do. With Hidalgo, they gave her the nickname of Dora.
I reported a problem with dumping in our neighborhood on County-owned Property. This problem has been going on for years but has recently gotten worse.
The first time I reported it, I received the following response;
Your Harris County Precinct 4 Case HCC0056921 solution has been proposed:
Resolution: Thank you for reaching out to our office. After reviewing your concerns with the area of ” Kennard Dr, Houston, TX 77074″, I will have to advise for you to reach out to the City of Houston Via 311 for further assistance in the matter. The area is within the City of Houston Limits and not county limits. Furthermore, this is a law enforcement issue, and no action can be taken from the County Commissioners’ office as we cannot enforce “No Parking” that is ultimately a law enforcement request. Please reach back out to the City of Houston for further guidance on the matter. I have reviewed the property information as well and this is a residential neighborhood under City Limits.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Thank you and have a blessed day
It is not a city problem. It is a county problem, and the City of Houston should not be using valuable resources to fix problems created by the County. The County is responsible for those properties. Below are two images taken today of the dumping on those properties.

The properties have been used to park large vehicles, large trailers, cars, and almost anything on four wheels that can sometimes be parked in their properties.
We are primarily a neighborhood where ownership is about 85% Spanish surnamed. That does not mean we don’t care about our community. We want to maintain and even increase the values of our homes. But when the county government adds to our problems, they do so intentionally or without care for the welfare of our community.
Council Member Pollard has to be commended for helping us with many of our concerns. They have also done their share of helping us with properties that belong to the county.
But enough is enough; the county has to step up and do what is right. What is the purpose of having a county commissioner who prefers to hold events to celebrate holidays when the community’s problems remain unresolved?
Insult to Injury
I sent an email to that representative of Brinone’s office, and the email bounced back as undeliverable.
Compared to our long-time commissioner, Steve Radack, Ms. Briones has a long way to go. I remember the first time I contacted the Commissioner’s Radack office; the phone call I received was from the commissioner himself. With Ms. Briones, good luck reaching her or expecting her to get involved with the community.
