Seems that Whitmire’s failures make for daily news.

Once again, only after the news media gets involved, do we find that John Whitmire’s band of merry workers come to take care of a problem. This time, three months had elapsed since the original call to 311.

‘A lot of water’: Man says City of Houston water main leak keeps getting worse

A man named Celso Mendoza reached out to us through our help desk saying that a city water main leak has been affecting his property since December, and since then, it’s only gotten worse.

Adding to that, he says this isn’t even the first time he’s had to deal with this problem over the years

“Initial service request was in December, and they came and put that (City of Houston) flag,” Mendoza said. “The flag signifies that they came and looked at it and they determined that it belonged to their side. That the leak was on their side…and I’ve dug the water out of the meter & the meter isn’t turning so it’s definitely their side.”

“Yesterday a man in a truck came and he was Public Works, he was like the scheduler or something, he came and determined what was going on and says ‘ok I’m writing the ticket, and they’ll be here in the morning,’” Mendoza said. “No one showed up.”

A Public Works official said the reason why no crews came Tuesday is because they received a high number of emergency calls that took priority, however she said that a crew is scheduled to come out Wednesday barring anymore emergencies.
