John Whitmire likes to appear in front of cameras and claim that he is tackling problems. But it seems the mayor does not tackle problems; he goes to other places and does the same thing. If he keeps Houston making less violent, we may become the murder capital of the world.
Washington Corridor:
Just a few months ago, Houston Mayor John Whitmire announced a crackdown on crime in the area.
On Dec. 13, Whitmire referred to “barely clad young ladies” frequenting the area while vowing to crack down on crime.
The media can sane wash what Whitmire claims, but if you want to see a problem that was solved, look no further than the Bissonnet Corridor, which was known for prostitution.
“Bissonnet” refers to Bissonnet Street in Houston, Texas, a major arterial road known for its historical association with prostitution and human trafficking. It’s also the title of a 2023 crime drama film that explores this theme.
Council Member Pollard was the person who finally solved that problem. What a shame that John Whitmire is not as talented as Pollard.
So what crime were those people committing after hours?

The bust came after several similar establishments were shut down in police raids across the city. The raids are part of a renewed emphasis on behalf of city officials who said after-hours bars and clubs are hotspots for illegal activity and violence. Diaz said the department is already looking at tackling other locations in the coming weeks.
“So for us, it’s a win tonight, and we look forward to other investigations like this because we do have calls for service in other parts of town that are similar,” Diaz said. “So we’re going to try to track them and be as effective with the resources that we have.”
Some of the people who comment on Click2Houston indicated that the clubs were targeted because they were looking for people who are undocumented. It would not surprise me that this is one of the ways that Whitmire is paying back his MAGA friends.
As to whether Whitmire is a Latino hater, look no further than what he said about people from the Gulfton area.
Whitmire had previously said to a media outlet that Houstonians in Gulfton are largely undocumented immigrants who “just want basic services. They don’t want to be part of the Galleria. You think they’re going to be welcome in the Galleria?”
