Whitmire likes to brag about crime is coming down and recently took to bad mouthing New York City

New York murders from January 1st to August 31, 2025 – 209

Population of New York City: 8.478 million

Houston murders from January 1st to August 31, 2025 – 197

Population of Houston: 2.39 million

New York City is three and a half times larger by population, and yet New York only has twelve more murders than Houston. If Houston were to include the bodies in the bayous, it would probably have more murders than New York.

Houston made the top ten highest crime rates in 2024, while cities that Whitmire claims are worse by standing up to Donald Trump did not make that list, which includes Chicago, the MAGA punching bag.

In 2024 Houston police with the help of the community was able to solve murders by a significant higher rate, but that trust especially in the immigrant community is no longer there, so I suspect that the solving of murders and other violent crimes will decrease as people will not have confidence that HPD won’t turn them in if they are here illegally. There is good reason for them to think like that because witnesses have been picked and placed with ICE.

Mayor Whitmire seems more concerned about teenagers riding electric scooters on the sidewalks downtown.

But for Mr. Whitmire, safety was also on his mind while observing groups of scooter riders from the window of the police SUV. His police chief said some of the riders had been found to be carrying guns. The mayor wants them banned from sidewalks.

We’re trying to help the public feel safe walking downtown,” he said. “It’s harming the hotel business.”

From KTRH Radio:

After taking a deep dive into the numbers, King found that when it comes to solving crimes here locally, Houston has a problem.

“The numbers have been terrible for a really long time” King told KTRH, “And so I pulled it up for 2024 to look at them, and the rates are still terrible.”

According to the data, the crime clearance rate for violent crime here in Houston is only 26%, with robbery at just 19%. That needs to change, and it starts with local leaders.

“We need to have people that are responsible for managing and overseeing police departments, like the police chiefs, mayors, city council” noted King, “Start asking why are these numbers so bad? What can we do to improve them?”

When it comes to solving crimes, Houston must be at the bottom, especially when it comes to hit-and-run incidents. Watch the video below and watch the Chief of Police run away from a reporter asking about hit-and-run crimes.
