Congressman is in my opinion our best bet this year to defeat Ted Cruz. I, also, happen to be in that group where he gets his largest support, over 60 and post graduate degree. Following are two quotes from this article.
According to findings published Thursday morning by Emerson College Polling and Nexstar Media, the Republican incumbent is locked in a statistical tie with two Democratic challengers. Pollsters asked a group of 1,315 registered Texas voters during the period of Jan. 13-15 who they would support if Cruz ultimately faced either U.S. Rep. Colin Allred, D-Dallas, or State Sen. Roland Gutierrez, D-San Antonio.
While State Senator Roland Gutierrez also polls very well against Ted Cruz, the state senator’s problem is that quite a few Spanish surnamed persons are running in the March primary. So, the first problem he will face is ensuring he is in a run-off against Colin Allred. State Senator Gutierrez’s firm stand against guns does not get him votes in Texas with the Latino community. I don’t know of anyone in my family who is not a gun owner.

I would not be surprised if Mark Gonzalez would come in second. Take a look at his website; there is no mention of guns. Unfortunately, immigration is going to be a big issue this year. The two Latino Congressmen who also voted with the Republicans represent Valley districts where much of the problems are occurring. They know or should know what their constituents want and need. Remember that Republicans have recently made inroads with the Latino community in South Texas.
