Constable Precinct 5 There will be a run-off

The question is which two candidates will be there? Looking at the tea-leaves, the amount of money on hand after the January 15, 2024 filing, and how they are spending their money. I will venture to say that it will be between Jerry Garcia and Don Dinh.

I am not sure anyone of them is a Democrat. I am fairly certain that the decision to run was made not to long ago when some of them found out that their boss was not running for re-election.

Most of them are spending a ton of money on signs. Are signs effective in getting people to vote for that person?

Here is an article that indicates that signs may make a difference. If only people would refrain from stealing them and tearing them.

Brandon Lenoir, who studies political communication and campaigns at High Point University and worked with Green on the 2015 study, says they found that signs without partisan cues actually got the message across better than ones that identified a candidate’s party affiliation.

“It seems that just putting your name out there and what you’re running for is more effective than actually trying to make a plea for being a progressive or a conservative or a Republican or a Democrat,” he says.
