There is only one serious candidate running for sheriff and he already holds that position. If the other three people think that they can win with their names only, they are mistaken. Sheriff Gonzalez has not been in the news for failing to do his job. While the number of deaths in the jail needs to improve, it has not been because of his lack of leadership.
If one wants to blame anyone, blame the Republicans and people like Whitmire and Kim Ogg. That group of people wants everyone locked up, but they don’t want to pay to have a place to lock them in. If they want more people in jail, then they need to get their behinds in front of the citizens and residents of Harris County and convince them that more money has to be raised to house all those “Bad Hombres y Mujeres.” But they are not all bad, nor are they all guilty, but what is such weird thinking for the ignorant?
It takes money to win a primary; if no one has any money, then maybe, but Sheriff Gonzalez has sufficient funds and plenty of name ID.
