For two or three years, I have stated that the Supreme Court was corrupt, and it is not just the right-wingers; some on the left are also corrupt. People should not become millionaires while they sit on the Supreme Court. They do it legally by writing books while still sitting on the bench, among other methods, such as accepting lavish vacations and trips from the ultra-rich.
As a Supreme Court Justice, Amy Coney Barrett does not get paid for her interviews with news outlets. The interviews are connected to promoting her book, for which she is compensated through book sales and advances.
Sotomayor
Millions in advances and royalties: As of her 2024 financial disclosure, Sotomayor has earned millions in book-related income since joining the Supreme Court in 2009. For example, in 2011, she received a $1.2 million advance for her memoir, My Beloved World. 2024 earnings: Her 2024 financial disclosure revealed that she earned more than $130,000 in book-related income, which included a $60,000 advance for her children’s book, Just Shine!.
Barrett
Book deal and related appearances
- Compensation for book: Justice Barrett received a $425,000 advance in 2021 as part of a book deal reportedly worth $2 million with Penguin Random House.
- Not a speaking fee: Federal ethics rules limit how much justices can earn from outside activities like teaching, but they have no such restrictions on income from book deals. Speaking fees are not permitted, although reimbursement for travel and lodging expenses is allowed.
Today, Paul Krugman referred to them in the same way. Krugman was a writer for The New York Times and a Nobel Prize winner in economics.
He is the leader of a party that accommodates his every whim, backed by a corrupt Supreme Court prepared to validate whatever he does, no matter how clearly it violates the law.
