Rice University political science professor Mark Jones crunched numbers from last year’s election and broke down how registered Republicans voted on the old map versus the new map.
We don’t register as Republicans or Democrats in Texas. We vote in primaries, which may or may not make us Republicans or Democrats. I have considered being independent for most of my adult life and would vote in the primary in which I think my vote could have the greatest impact.
But looking at the number of people that voted for Trump, they are all within ten percentage points, which at this time indicates that they can all go Democrat. The question how many other Republican Congressional Districts did the new maps make it possible for Democrats to win if things continue the way they are going?
