Can’t hear the voice of the Latino community, the elected officials nor the adult community. In fact I almost burst out laughing when Marc Campos suggested Carol Alvarado would be a good candidate for Mayor of Houston. Deport them Adrian Garcia makes a much better candidate than Carol ever will. But it would nice to find a Latina or Latina with some education to help them prove they are capable of leading a city the size of Houston. It would be nice to have them stand up and at least make it look like they care about the Latino community.
Here on my side of the woods the teacher’s union is filing suit because of the bathroom rules for Sharpstown High School. Sharpstown is primarily a Latino student school (80%) and ninety eight (98%) percent minority. Where are the elected Latino leaders speaking out as to why Sharpstown was chosen to be punitive when it comes to allowing students to go to the bathroom? Hell, where is LULAC, too busy asking for money so they can have parties and congratulate themselves as to what they do?
Spring Branch, students defend their parents as they are too busy working. Got news for you guys, our parents who fought a war. WWII found time to make sure to make sure that we were treated right. In my neighborhood, the Mexicans and Blacks united and ousted and all white school board. Probably the first time that happened in Texas, before Crystal City. They are still working together for the children of West Oso.
Somebody needs to light a fire underneath all those Latinos elected officials that are in for themselves and forget that those Latinos that do vote count on them to be their voice. That includes you Lina Hidalgo.
As to Carol Alvarado if you are seriously considering running for mayor, who are you align yourself with? The same people the guy you endorsed did? The Republicans? You burned a bridge with the black community for at least a few years.
All you Latinos that have nothing but excuses, don’t bother. No one cares. If you could get your butts over here and overcome those hardships getting here, certainly you have something in you that cares. You need to get away from complaining and working to get Democrats elected. they may or may not do as you think they will, but there is certainly a much better chance that they will. Republicans will pick you up, put you in a bus, and send you back across the border. Don’t believe, listen to Trump, who is about 50 points in front of any other Republican running for president.
