They voted down help for Israel, and Ukraine, claiming that they wanted border protection for this country. There is nothing wrong with the request but what is that they are asking for? They need to put something on the table for President Biden and the Democrats to consider. Republicans are not interested in an agreement, they don’t care if Israel and Ukraine fall, they need their political talking point, that being Democrats are weak on the border.
Republicans aren’t unified on what would be sufficient border legislation. Some demand full inclusion of a House-passed Secure the Border Act that has no backing among Democrats. Cruz introduced the Senate version of that bill in September. A working group of Senate Republicans introduced their own proposal last month. Republicans across the board agree on making it harder to request asylum and adding more physical barriers. Source
I agree we need to protect American borders and that we must stop, if not considerably slow down, the illegal crossings. Not because those brown-skinned people will poison the blood of the White Americans, that blood is already poisoned with hate from their ancestors. We need to protect the borders because open borders hurts the working people of this country. That is why there are no unions in Texas, cheap foreign labor; that is why everyone seems to be able to afford to pay someone to do the landscaping.
I had a friend years ago who supported his family as a carpenter, but the amount he could charge because of the undocumented persons went so low that he had to find another career that did not pay as well. Working men and women should not sacrifice so that the big business can get rich from the sweat of American workers.
Everyone should be E-verified for working, including landscapers; that is what was promised when Ronald Reagan signed the Amnesty.
