For eight years, the Houston Chronicle had Lina Hidalgo right where it wanted her: in public office, where the newspaper could criticize her decisions, question her judgment, and regularly tell Harris County readers what was wrong with Lina Hidalgo.
Then Hidalgo announced she was leaving office and did something terribly inconsiderate.
She started her own Substack.
Now the Chronicle gives her a thumbs down and asks why she would publish there when she could send her opinions to the Chronicle instead.
