Back in January, I wrote that Democrats did not have to learn how to “cater” to Hispanics. Trump only had to keep finding ways to piss them off. Nine months later, some Republican candidates apparently do not want to remind voters that Trump is even on their side. More than 500 Republican ads, and only a handful mention him. In South Florida, a Republican congresswoman is now publicly telling Trump that his immigration policies have gone too far. Maybe the problem was never that Democrats suddenly learned how to talk to Hispanics. Maybe Trump simply kept doing what I said he would do.
The Republicans don’t want him front and center, but that is where they need to keep him. Here in Texas, Greg Abbott and, to a degree, Paxton should be at the top of whom we make fun of,
Texas is also lucky that they got Bobby Pulido running; he fires up the Latinos in South Texas. Talarico sounds Spanish, so it would not surprise me that some, if not many, Hispanics think he is Hispanic. Talarico is an Italian surname.
There is one group that Democrats need to work on, and that is Latino guys; they tend to be more macho, and the drag queen and transgender may stop them from voting for anyone.
Young and working-class Latina voters in California care more about protecting immigrant communities and fighting President Trump’s agenda than their male counterparts, according to a UCLA study.
The findings from researchers at the university’s Latino Policy and Politics Institute illustrate how gender can correlate with differences in policy views among California Latinos, who account for about a third of the state’s eligible voters.
Study co-author G. Cristina Mora noted that while the Latino population tends to vote Democratic overall, the community is far from a monolith and there are valuable insights to be gleaned from analyzing the difference in policy views among population subgroups.
Things are getting hard, especially with fuel costs; we Latinos love pickup trucks, and those tend to be gas guzzlers. The only reason my Grand Cherokee isn’t a Hemi is that they didn’t make them last year, when I bought it. But I don’t drive much, so fuel isn’t much of a concern for me; those who use their vehicles are hurting unless they are making a ton of money.
So if you are a Democrat or if you’re just tired of what is happening to our country, stand up, and if the Republicans are posting nonsense, don’t let it go. Reply back. Even some of our men and women in the military are letting us know that Iran caused a lot of damage to our bases located in the Middle East.
The best defense is a good offense.
