Gregg Abbott theatrics resulted in a woman and children drowning

A woman and two children drowned because of Greg Abbott‘s political theater.

Cuellar said in a statement Saturday that Border Patrol officers learned around 9 p.m. Friday that six migrants were in distress as they tried to cross the river separating the U.S. and Mexico near Eagle Pass’ Shelby Park. Since early in the week, Texas officials, under orders from Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, have prevented federal officials from entering a stretch of border within the 47-acre city park.

Upon hearing about the migrants, Border Patrol attempted to contact Texas authorities, including the Texas Military Department, National Guard and Department of Public Safety, but were unsuccessful, Cuellar, a moderate Democrat whose district is southeast of the park, said in a statement posted to the social media site X. Border Patrol officers then tried to go to Shelby Park, but Texas Military Department personnel at a park gate wouldn’t let federal agents through, Cuellar said.

The cruelty of the racists that run Texas seems to know no bounds.

In one instance on 30 June, Wingate wrote, troopers treated a four-year-old girl who passed out from heat exhaustion after she attempted to pass through the wire amid 100F (nearly 38C) conditions. Texas national guard soldiers pushed her and her group back towards Mexico.

The same day, a pregnant woman was treated after troopers found her caught in the wire and in extreme pain. The woman was having a miscarriage and emergency responders took her to a hospital.

One teenager also broke his leg trying to avoid the wire and had to be carried by his father.

In a separate case on 25 June, troopers discovered a group of 120 people along a fence on the river, Wingate wrote. The group, including small children and infants who were nursing, were exhausted and hungry. But a commanding officer ordered troopers to “push the people back into the water to go to Mexico”, he wrote in the email.
