I am not sure why the Houston Chronicle wants to put lipstick on a pig, but it makes it look like what Texas has done isn’t so bad. Here is a recent article in the Houston Chronicle. Now the Chronicle is behind a paywall, and if you ain’t paid, you can’t climb the wall.
Read the following from the Chronicle, and tell me that they didn’t sugarcoat it.
Behind Texas, the states with the highest totals were Missouri (5,825), Tennessee (4,990), Arkansas (4,660), Oklahoma (4,530), Louisiana (4,290) and Alabama (4,130).
26,313, unwanted pregnancies by young girls and women. Forty five percent (45%) of all unwanted pregnancies in the United States were forced on women and young girls by our Texas MAGA state leaders.
Why did the Houston Chronicle sugarcoat the study?
In the article on their app, they have Alaska as number one in rapes based on population. There are only 733,000 people who reside in Alaska, so there must have been 23,250 rapes reported in 2023. No, there were not.
The Chronicle used a combination of CDC and FBI statistics but failed to provide links to verify how they reached their conclusion. The CDC’s numbers have been questioned.
There are two charts below, if you look at the numbers there is a large discrepancy between the chart from the Chronicle and the one that lists reported crimes.
