In my opinion Whitmire is as compromised to the firefighters as Trump is to the Russians.
Like the MAGA cult, it seems that council members who are asking questions are being targeted by the cult members that Whitmire appears to have accumulated.
Whitmire surrendered so that he could avoid taking the agreement with the firefighters to the public. For the public, Whitmire knows what is best.
From what I heard, we the voters will not be allowed to vote on whether to fund the agreement, as the council “Must” agree without knowing all the details.
Based on the meetings, firefighters will be the only city employees not required to be drug tested. Every other employee should also not be required to take a random drug test.
One council member compared the 1.5 million in legal fees saved to the 1.5 billion that the settlement will cost the residents of Houston. How many years did Paxton fight his criminal indictment, and how many years has Trump spent fighting some cases? The point is that it is cheaper to fight than to settle.
One of the things that the City Council and Mayor need to discuss is privatizing the EMS. This will immediately allow more firemen to join the firefighting crews. The financial well-being of the City is the utmost important thing to consider. Will all other city employees now engage in the same aggressive negotiations that the firefighters resorted to? After all, Whitmire says he is the employees’ best friend.

The city council’s role is to fund the agreement, and they have less than three months to do it.
