Commissioner Briones and vacant county properties.

Our neighborhood is one of a few that have properties that were bought by the county after flooding. The County owns about forty or more properties in our neighborhood. One could go by those vacant properties almost any day and find trash or debris that has been dumped there. Just before starting to write this article, I found the following.

The straw that finally broke this camel’s back was the response from Commissioner Briones’ office, which stated that the properties are in the city and are city problems. No, they are county problems, and the county should step up and handle the problems they create. They could send a deputy constable to patrol the area for cars or large vehicles parked on their properties. What good are those “No Trespassing Signs?”

Below is the response from Commissioner Briones’ office:

Resolution: Thank you for reaching out to our office. After reviewing your concerns with the area of ” Kxxxxx Dr, Houston, TX 77000″, I will have to advise for you to reach out to the City of Houston Via 311 for further assistance in the matter. The area is within the City of Houston Limits and not county limits. Furthermore, this is a law enforcement issue, and no action can be taken from the County Commissioners’ office as we cannot enforce “No Parking” that is ultimately a law enforcement request. Please reach back out to the City of Houston for further guidance on the matter. I have reviewed the property information as well and this is a residential neighborhood under City Limits.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Thank you and have a blessed day – Txxxx
