I was appointed as an election judge and must notify them if I don’t intend to accept the appointment.
I never sought the appointment and now must notify not one but two offices that I will not accept the appointment.
What happens if I don’t accept and don’t contact the offices? Will I be arrested? Will my name be published in an attempt to shame me? Will I have to wear a large red letter around my neck?
I have never worked as an election judge or even in an election. I have no desire to get up early and spend more than 12 hours daily. I know me, and I would be bored to death.
I understand the strong-arming of people, as they are probably having problems finding people to work as election judges. But with the MAGA cultists running around charging or accusing people of violations of election laws, who would want to put themselves in such a position? Not I.
All it would take is one crazy MAGA claiming that I did something illegal, and I could find myself facing thousands of dollars in lawyer fees and the threat of jail. Why would I put myself in that position?
