Republicans are making supporting a family harder.

As a former Republican precinct chair, I can recall when the values of the Republicans were much different. I can recall when the Democrats also used to be the party of the working men and women, but those days are much further behind than the Republicans.

I remember the first time I voted for a Republican, which was Ronald Reagan. He promised to lower our taxes, and he kept that promise. Taxes were extremely high; they were so high that one summer, I did not take a summer job. I was a school teacher. For every dollar I earned trying to get my family ahead, I was taxed at 50%, and for every dollar I earned, the federal government got one dollar.

Now we have someone who promises that taxes will be lowered, but that was a damn lie because all he was promising was that the taxes would stay the same. Trump pledged to reduce the cost of groceries, yet he still claims that the cost has gone down, which is a damn lie. Anyone who shops and pays attention to prices can see that they are going up.

Car insurance, house insurance, and health insurance are going up.

The cost of electricity is going up, and the idiot who sits on his throne helped those prices go up with his idiotic hate of wind and solar power.

And if all of the above were not enough, we have a president who is morally and ethically corrupt. I can’t figure out why his lovers (voters) can’t see or select not to see it, because maybe something else, like racism, drives them.

Perhaps, instead of giving money to people to pay for health insurance, they could implement a minimum wage that everyone who works could afford. The health industry, like almost all other industries, must constantly be watched as money for its stockholders becomes the overriding desire.

We must take care of our sick and those not able to work, as that is what great societies do. But there is a sickness in our country when so many people are addicted to drugs to the point that they cannot work. Blaming other countries for our problems does not solve that problem.

The only culture that I have read that did not have anything that would get them high was the Inuit (Eskimos), and the reason for that was that there was nothing there that could be converted to drugs. Once the white guy arrived with the whiskey, everything changed. There is a desire to escape, and drugs may be the easiest way for many to do that. Even children spinning round and round often do it because of the high feeling afterwards.
