To many immigrant advocates, the deal Biden negotiated with leaders in the Senate showed how a president who had long deemed Trump’s border policies inhumane was willing to curtail asylum in exchange for wartime aid for Ukraine.
More than 130 organizations from around the country sent a letter to Biden opposing the deal and the tougher standards for asylum. If they think that doing that will get them what they want, then they deserve what they sow. It did not work very well when they did that to Hillary Clinton.
If they want Trump back, they can go ahead and boycott the elections. They can work against President Biden. They can do what some of them did in 2016.
I and my family are not near the top of the totem pole of those that the MAGAs will go after first. With more and more Latinos being swing voters, they will not be the group they go after first, with one exception: those not here legally.
But instead of boycotting, why not get all those registered Latinos to vote and help their families? That is a novel idea to try.
