What did I find out about the group that I found while listening to Tejano/Norteno music?
Grupo Vida’s energetic shows have entertained thousands of fans with their brand of LIVE entertainment. As a result this band of brothers are a must see for anyone who enjoys live concert performances. The band Grupo Vida was formed in 1999 by Brothers Tim Villanueva and John Villanueva who were the founders of former lead singer “Eddie Gonzalez” and former Accordion player “Sunny Sauceda”. Tim Villanueva was the original drummer behind Eddie Gonzalez y Grupo Vida’s hit CD “KIK IT” which sold over one hundred thousand copies in the US and Mexico. John Villanueva was the business mastermind and manager behind former lead singer Gonzalez as well. In 1997 Tim Villanueva, John Villanueva, Sunny Sauceda, and Manny Gonzalez let singer Eddie Gonzalez go. The boys got together and recruited guitarist Jason Martinez who at the time was playing accordion for Tejano’s little Miss Dynamite “Shelly Lares”. In search of the right person to fill the spot of lead vocalist, a roadcrew member informed them of Art Tigerina. John Villanueva contacted Tigerina who then came to try out for the group. All it took was for Tigerina to sing one song and it was a connection, Vida had found their new lead vocalist and felt that they had to look no further. Art Tigerina decided to leave the band in May 2013. “The Electric Cowboys” in 2001 after landing a huge national tour with country music artist “The Dixie Chicks”. Today the band is more popular and innovative than ever releasing their first all country cd in 2005 entitled “The Electric Cowboys – PRISONER OF THE HONKY TONK” and is looking to release a new country cd in the next few months, so be on the lookout.
