I very recently purchased an electric lawn mower from Amazon. When I unpacked the item, I found that the handles were not straight, and part had cracks and was not correctly placed on the handles. I contacted Amazon, and they and the seller agreed that I could return the item.
I would have to return the item and pay for shipment, which Amazon typically covers. The cost of shipping plus insurance would have been close to $100. After considering it, I decided to keep the extremely expensive batteries and purchase the lawn mower locally, thereby having two sets of batteries.
Moral of the story is if you purchase items that come with batteries you will be responsible for the shipment if the item is defective.
