Onda Chicana – country music – Cumbia – and some Otis Redding

There are some sounds that I enjoy, whether it is Tejano, Country or Cumbia. Something about the song or sound just makes me feel good. Country music, especially when it is Hank Williams singing, “Your Cheating Heart” is my favorite. Below are some songs that I enjoy listening and watching. Otis Redding had been on my mind so I included him in the mix, “Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay.”

This week, as I sat drinking my coffee and thinking mostly of the past but also of what I still need to do, I realized that many years ago, when my father would tell me that the aches and pains were God’s way of telling us it was time to go. I realized that morning that my dad was telling me that he had aches and pains. Neither he nor my mom ever complained about pain or headaches or how terrible they were feeling. They taught me and my brothers and sisters that we had to be strong. I have gotten older, and those aches and pains often visit me to remind me that my time here is rapidly coming to an end, or at least where I may welcome the end. Music reminds me of my past; for instance, I started enjoying Country Music when I attended Oklahoma State University. As to Otis Redding, his voice had a touch of heaven.
