Whitmire admits that the audits won’t save that much money.

Mayor Whitmire spends over half a million dollars so he could tell us there is waste in the city’s departments.

“I don’t think the Ernst & Young report is going to solve our problem, but it’s going to improve our conditions and, more importantly, let the public know we’ve done everything we can to be efficient,” he said.

Every administration promises to reduce waste and always finds waste. Still, they usually rename and shift departments to hide the fact that they could or would not do anything about it.

Has Whitmire told us how he has reduced waste in the Mayor’s office?

Is Whitmire now traveling with fewer police officers for protection? He stated that he would do that to put one or two more police on patrol.

The audit is a smoke and mirror show that misled the Houston taxpayers into believing Whitmire is doing something to reduce waste.

Whitmire’s neighbors are high-fiving him for the garbage collection. He should visit my side of town, and he will find that the heavy trash day has come and gone.
