Is the MAGA mayor sending the accusations to the MAGA Cruz-loving DA who lost in the primaries? Is this the MAGA party going on offense with people (Masquerading as Democrats) that they can control?
I have often seen people who are being naughty start pointing fingers at others and immediately go to the media. This feels like that.
There is even talk of the feds investigating. Well, that is convenient, as the only thing the feds will say is that they cannot comment.
The OIG, the city’s Office of Inspector General, is a lapdog for whomever the mayor may be.
Since then, the mayor said the language in the agenda is “being altered” but said he was sounding the alarm to media officials as part of his commitment to transparency and accountability.
“It’s just unacceptable, and the only thing I would ask of you is to review it; take your time; reach your own conclusions,” Whitmire concluded. “It’s shocking that city officials reach out to vendors and set goals for what they need to meet as a sponsor for a city-sponsor/held event, which is supposed to be informative and inviting for city business.”
KPRC 2 Investigates has learned federal law enforcement has been asking questions focused on the controllers office and those doing business with it.
It does not make sense as those sponsorships have been going on for years.

On another website:
“There is specifically a VIP reception at State of the City, which specifically has a VIP section sponsor,” Hollins said. “It’s fine that that takes place. Again, we’re not painting State of the City as some big negative thing. What we’re pointing out is the extreme hypocrisy here.”
More on the Office of Inspector General.
The city attorney Arturo Michel is in charge of the City of Houston’s OIG. Michel serves at the will of the Houston mayor, not independently. Outgoing city council member Mike Kubosh says that’s problematic.
“They all are employees of the mayor. They answer to the mayor. They’re not gonna do anything that the mayor’s not in agreement with.,” said Kubosh. “I’m very suspect of it because I don’t believe that it’s transparent and there needs to be an independent investigation.”
Another high-level employee switch is raising yet another red flag about a possible conflict of interest.
Roel Garcia is the former Houston Public Works Chief of Staff who also reported directly to Carol Haddock. Garcia was recently promoted from Public Works to the city’s Office of the Inspector General.
The Houston OIG is also *not* a law enforcement agency. It has no authority to press criminal charges if it appears an employee has violated the law.
Two other Houston bloggers have their two cents.
Come back at a future date and see who, if any, was closer to being right.
