The person suggested that voters do research on all the candidates, propositions, etc., on the ballot. That is a lot of research, as one would have to research not only one, two, or three candidates. Here in Harris County, we look at hundreds if one is not wed to either party. I, for instance, after Trump, promised myself that I would never vote for a person with an R before him. For the primary, I did research and shared it with the public here on this blog.
Beyond schooling, he suggested people need to set aside time for research.
“When you buy, I don’t know, a car or an expensive item, right? You spend a lot of time doing research,” he said. “‘I’m trying to see if this car is better or that car is better.’ That’s something that we need to do, especially when thinking about voting.”
Yes, when I shop for a car, I research, but I would search for 70-plus different brands and makes. It is absurd for that person to believe that people will spend countless hours researching hundreds of candidates. Most people will never be in a court of law, and if they do make an appearance, it would probably be in a Family Court, divorce court, or Criminal Court.
