This past weekend, my brothers and I traveled to Corpus Christi to visit family and our parents’ resting place. As we returned, we saw a border patrol car north of Corpus Christi, between Robstown and Odom. I have been going to Corpus since I left there in 1969, and that was the first time I saw a border patrol vehicle by the highway.
Our sister told us the border patrol vehicles and agents were also gathering around one of the HEBs in Corpus Christi.
I researched via the internet whether there have been raids in Corpus Christi. I found that there have been sightings of border patrol agents but no actual raids or attempts to pick up or question people indiscriminately.
I believe that is a tactic that is being used by immigration to create the impression of a large force that they are picking and monitoring anyone and anywhere that they suspect that people not here legally may be gathering.
The video below is not recent, but one of the persons detained stated that they separated the whites and blacks from the Hispanics. They questioned only the Hispanics. It brings back memories of the 1950s, not a time I would consider great nor a time I would return to.
