I agree with him because he won by the same percentage as the people who voted against staying in the H-GAC. Not really the people that voted for him, many, if not most, of those voters were MAGAs who would or could fall in that category (stupid/ignorant).
Mayor John Whitmire at the time said voters didn’t understand what was at stake when they supported Prop B, which received 140,000 votes compared to Whitmire’s 130,000 in the 2023 mayoral election.
“When people were voting on Prop B, they heard a slanted one side that we were not being represented properly and getting our fair share,” Whitmire said in October. “That’s old information. So I think we all know what’s at stake. I just simply say rise above politics and vote.”
Among several controversial decisions, H-GAC voted to approve a memorandum of understanding for the Texas Department of Transportation’s Interstate 45 expansion plan — despite opposition from all of Houston and Harris County’s representatives. And after Hurricane Harvey, the council distributed the vast majority of recovery dollars to municipalities other than Houston, which received 2% of the funding despite having the plurality of the region’s population.
John Whitmire is so full of bull that it would not surprise me that he believes what he says.
