For the last three days, I have had spotty internet service, with the internet either very slow or unavailable. Finally, ATT comes clean on the fact that they had “Equipment issues.”
AT&T internet down for thousands across Houston area:
AT&T’s fiber internet service was down across dozens of ZIP codes in Houston and other Texas cities on Saturday morning, due to a what AT&T described as equipment issues.
A map on AT&T’s website showed outages clustered around the Houston area including in Sugar Land, Katy and The Woodlands. Outages were also reported in Dallas, San Antonio and El Paso. AT&T’s website listed the outages’ cause as a “fiber cable issue” and a “fiber equipment issue” and estimated repair times ranged from 8 hours to 100 hours.
Social media users reported slow cellular data speeds and difficulty accessing websites. AT&T did not immediately respond to a request for more information.
Widespread outages were first reported just after 6 a.m., according to outage tracker site Downdetector.
I believe that the issue has been ongoing for a few days, at least at my location, and the rats eating the cables started affecting many others, to the point where AT&T had to come clean and admit that they had a problem.
