The more I research my family, the more I learn about La Raza. Some of us have ancestors, not the indigenous ancestors, the Europeans, in particular, the Spanish, who were the first Europeans to colonize the Americas. Some La Raza are more recent arrivals to the United States. One such person was Rosie Mendez Hamlin. Her mother was Mexican, but her father was a gabacho.
As an older person, I recall the song that reached the top ten. Rosie and the Originals are featured in one of my favorite movies about La Raza. The film is La Familia, which is available on YouTube.
