I had previously written that I was leaning toward Jasmine Crockett and not James Talarico. One of the things that had bothered me was Talarico saying;

I hate to burst Talarico’s bubble, but he won in 2018; he should give a lot of credit to Beto O’Rourke, whose very large tail helped get many Democrats elected for the first time, including Lina Hidalgo here in Harris County.
But the suggestion that one has to look at who can win in November had struck me as being borderline racist. I saw it look like I am a white man and she is a black woman. Who do you think can win in November?
Like a racist whisper, which the Republicans used to use before they became blatantly racist. Back in the 70s and 80s, they made sure to send mailers to White households if the opponent was Black.
Today I read something that, if true, would certainly indicate that he is a racist or is willing to use race to win the Democratic Primary. I supported Allred even in the primary year he ran for the US Senate.
Colin Allred blasts James Talarico over TikTok allegation that he called him a “mediocre Black man”
Talarico called the allegation a “mischaracterization of a private conversation” and said he was describing Allred’s “method of campaigning.” Allred, Talarico’s main rival in the Senate primary before dropping his bid, also urged Democrats to vote for Talarico’s opponent, Jasmine Crockett.
..In a scathing video Monday, former U.S. Rep. Colin Allred ripped state Rep. James Talarico for allegedly calling him a “mediocre Black man” and urged voters to support U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett, Talarico’s opponent in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate.
Allred’s comments came after Morgan Thompson, a political content creator with the TikTok handle @morga_tt, posted a now-viral video alleging that, in a one-on-one conversation with Talarico on Jan. 12, the Austin Democrat told her he signed up to run against “a mediocre Black man,” referring to Allred, and “not a formidable, intelligent Black woman.” Allred was Talarico’s main rival in the Senate primary until the former Dallas congressman dropped his bid in December as Crockett was preparing to enter the race.
I guess it is okay to say Allred’s method is mediocre without implying that the person is not mediocre. I don’t believe that. Why say anything if it is not good? It seems that Talarico’s sermons are more Christian than the person who delivers them.
What did Allred have to say about being called mediocre?
