I am curious who has the authority in HPD to obligate the entire Police Department.

Gregg Abbott, the mustageless Musollini from Texas, stated that the Houston Police Department signed off on the same contract that John Whitmire signed.

“The city of Houston passed today is an agreement good enough to be in compliance with the contract,” Abbott said. “However, the Houston Police Department still has not agreed to the terms.”

According to the governor, the agreement requires the Houston Police Department to notify the Department of Homeland Security about individuals in custody who may be in the country illegally—and follow federal instructions on whether to detain them.

Until HPD formally agrees, Abbott said funding remains frozen.

I doubt that John Whitmire or the HPOU, Police Union, will let the citizens know who has so much authority as to sign such a contract without a vote from the police officers.

Maybe John Whitmire, in his simple mind, means well, but he has managed to get into a position where he is as clueless as the person we have in the White House.

The city’s attorney said that the revised language was negotiated directly between the mayor’s office and the governor’s Public Safety Office. Appearing on Fox News’ The Will Cain Show yesterday afternoon, the governor said the Houston Police Department “has not fully agreed to fully comply” with its contractual responsibilities. He warned the city could still lose funding if police don’t detain illegal aliens and notify immigration officials.
