When I read that a Latina had thrown her name into the running for City Council at Large, I visited her website and found one disappointing aspect. I am disappointed that she sees herself as a Lesbian first. What about the young Latina girls and boys who are not gay or lesbian, but also need to find their voices?
As president of the College Democrats of America, Alejandra courageously came out as an LGBTQ Latina on national television during the 2012 Democratic National Convention – to inspire LGBTQ youth to find their own voices.
I read her priorities; they are all pie-in-the-sky BS that she can’t deliver on, just fancy words from a lawyer who is used to using fancy words.
Why not promise to give a thousand dollars to every resident of Houston, if elected? She can’t deliver on that promise either.
We need Latinos or Latinas who will be the voice not just of Latinos, but of working-class people in Houston.
Lawyers do like to pad their resumes. Ms. Salinas claims to have successfully defended Lina Hidalgo in a suit filed by a Republican.
Well, she was one of the lawyers from the law firm;

I think I will pass on the likes of the “Latina” candidate.
