Houston’s East End is the dumping ground for things other areas don’t want. That is what happens when one has a weak council person and a neighborhood populated by Hispanics. The so-called political leaders from that area are too busy pandering to other communities or so inept at doing what they are supposed to do, which is taking care of their constituents.
When asked by ABC13, District I councilmember had the following to say: Nada, he couldn’t even say one word to defend his constituents.
Kelley told ABC13 he has been homeless for several months after his recent release from jail for drug possession. He said he has struggled to secure permanent housing with his record.
District I Council Member Joaquin Martinez declined ABC13’s request for an interview on the topic on Tuesday. Source
East End should be hollering for joy that a Super-Hub for the homeless is being built at the entrance of their neighborhood. The closure of Polk Street as an entrance to the East End may not be a coincidence, as it allows the homeless to be kept there. If I didn’t know better, it would be like reservations that were created to house the Native Americans.
Location of the superhub below. If one is familiar with this area, they would realize that access to downtown is very limited, as few streets cut through from downtown to the East End. I am sure that my friends who live in Second Ward will be thrilled, not only is it one of the most polluted areas now, but they will also have a Super-Hub homeless shelter. Not a super Walmart. Good things, John Whitmire is very chummy with the Trevino Dynasty that controls much of that area, and as a reward, gave them their own homeless Superhub.

If homeless shelters and homeless people are welcomed, why is it that neighborhoods fight tooth and nail to keep them out of their backyards? Who wants a homeless person knocking on your door begging for food? Which business wants them sitting out front begging for money? Which parents wish them on the streets as their children walk to school? Remember North Side, the child murdered by a homeless person? More recently, a homeless man kidnapped a high school student.
More on the Superhub, wonder who is getting some money out of this deal

One day, the people from that area will realize that their elected officials do not work for them.
