Whitmire is likely instructing his staff to determine how to blame the previous administration. Sorry, Mayor, you have been mayor for one and a half years now; the buck stops with you. The only person in the news who comes out with more lies and excuses is the guy in Washington, DC.

Here in our neighborhood, we’re on day eight, so we’re some of the lucky ones, I guess.

What the Mayor and staff told the media, below:

Peck echoed statements from Mayor John Whitmire and Solid Waste Management that Interim Director Larius Hassen is working on new systems and models to implement at the department which will take time to take effect. On top of that, maintenance issues for department trucks has added to delays, though new equipment is set to be purchased soon.

Whitmire told KHOU 11’s Len Cannon that it would likely take until the fall to see recycling collection return to normal operations.

If they tell the truth, we are looking at either September or October, and we hope a hurricane does not come in our direction; otherwise, we will have debris lining the curbs for months or years.
