I guess one could say that Mayor Whitmire is letting Houston go to trash, that is what happens when we get a DEI elected official.
HOUSTON — What was once an overgrown, trash-filled eyesore in a north Houston neighborhood has finally been cleared thanks to persistent neighbors and a KHOU 11 report that helped push the issue into action.
More than two weeks after KHOU 11 first reported on the overgrown vacant lot near downtown, neighbors said the transformation is finally complete. What used to be five-foot-tall weeds and scattered debris is now a freshly mowed, cleared property.
“Before Katiera came out here, had anything been done?” KHOU 11’s Maria Aguilera asked.
“No. No, nothing. No, it was difficult,” said Jessica Uresti, who owns the properties directly next to the lot.

Uresti spoke with KHOU 11’s Katiera Winfrey back on July 11, voicing frustrations over the lot’s condition, which she said had been deteriorating for months and had become a dumping ground.
Soon after the KHOU 11 story aired, the City of Houston posted cleanup notices on the property. Just over two weeks later, the lot was finally cleared.
It is a shame that we have an administration that only does what it is supposed to do when the news media makes an issue of the problem. Shame on you, Whitmire.
