With Democrats like Leslie Briones and Adrian Garcia, who needs MAGAs on the commissioner’s court?
Could it be that Adrian Garcia and Leslie Briones are like Donald Trump and are racists, especially toward Black children? See the image below; those are the children who were bothering them. That is why Trump always refers to Black and brown skinned Latinos as “Low IQ.”
It would not surprise me that Briones and Garcia have made a deal with the Republican Commissioner to help create an atmosphere where County Judge Hidalgo is either forced out, as Ramsey, far right on the photo above, wants, or Hidalgo decides not to run again.
“I would like to move to censure County Judge Lina Hidalgo for a failure to conduct herself,” Ramsey said.
Now, Ramsey is asking if they should take it a step further, asking if Hidalgo should be removed from office.
His statement mentions what he calls unpredictable absences from meetings, profanity in public meetings, and outbursts with colleagues.
But Hidalgo stands by how she acted on Thursday.
“I was totally baffled, and I guess I was giving a last shot like this is all I got,” Hidalgo said.
This is twice that without a discussion, Ramsey makes a motion, and Briones and Garcia second and vote with the MAGA Republicans. That sure seems suspicious to me. I can see where the matter had already been discussed before the meeting, and the action to be taken had been decided.
The other time was;
Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo in a Thursday evening statement called the vote for increased deputy pay unprecedented. She and Commissioner Rodney Ellis opposed Commissioner Tom Ramsey’s motion for pay parity with Houston Police Department officers — with Hidalgo saying the move will exacerbate the county’s financial problems. She approved a separate motion to create the negotiation committee that will be charged with coming up with the money to pay for raises.
“That’s a bewildering thing for county leaders to commit to without explaining how to cover that deficit,” Hidalgo said. “They can’t answer that question because they do not know.”
Commissioners Lesley Briones and Adrian Garcia, a former county sheriff, joined Ramsey — the only Republican on commissioners court — in approving the pay increase. Briones said the county faces the threat of losing qualified law enforcement officers to agencies such as HPD if the commissioners court doesn’t swiftly pass pay parity.
Neither Briones nor Garcia should feel that the Republicans keep their promises. Even if the Republicans refuse to invest heavily in a Republican opponent for either Garcia or Briones, it may not be necessary. Last year, a well-financed JP Israel Garcia lost to a Republican here in JP 6. Israel Garcia is now running for County Judge as a Republican.
I can tell you now that if Briones gets a Black primary opponent, it would not surprise me if she is attacked for being a racist for being against funding for Black children, see image below.
