In a second press conference Thursday afternoon, Judge Lina Hidalgo went further down her warpath against Commissioners Lesley Briones, Adrian Garcia and Tom Ramsey, referring to her court colleagues as the “GOP 3″—despite the fact that Briones and Garcia are both Democrats.
Hidalgo first floated the idea of cutting Briones, Garcia and Ramseys’ budgets during Thursday’s commissioners court—a proposal she later reiterated online, questioning what part of their combined $90.3 million budgets they would be “willing to sacrifice” to help address the deficit, originally projected by the Harris County Office of Management and Budget at $275 million.
It is time that Democrats start speaking up to the MAGA within the Democratic Party. Adrian Garcia and Leslie Briones have shown that they are more closely aligned with the Trump view of the world than with the working men and women that they represent. That is what happens to way too many politicians who remain in office too long. They begin to think that only they are capable of making proper decisions without noticing that the money they take in campaign contributions has changed any decency that they may have had before they entered their political position.
