Did the Annise Parker campaign encourage A Hispanic to jump in for County Judge?

The image on the left is from Annise Parker’s Facebook account. Annise Parker is as much a Democrat as Kim Ogg or John Whitmire. The same politicians and precinct chairs who voted against the Ogg resolution are almost identical to those who, supported Whitmire on the resolution.

As I was doing some research on something not related to the county judge position, I ran across an article in the Houston Press that led me to ask myself whether Matt Salazar was encouraged by Annise Parker or the Gay community to get a Hispanic into the race, which would almost guarantee a run-off between Parker and Plummer? I have often stated that Gay candidates often need a run-off to win. What they lack in numbers, they more than make up for with brains, cunning, and hard work.

However

Matt Salazar jumped into the race at the last minute; however, a website does not suddenly magically appear the minute it is posted online. It takes some time as the spiders that search the web have to run across it, so they must be led there. Mr. Salazaqr was there when I did a Google search the same day I saw his name running for the county judge position. He filed a campaign treasurer report on 11/12/25. Mr. Salazar is a mystery. The address he listed on his campaign report has no one registered to vote at that location. The same is true for the person who is designated as the campaign treasurer. I could not find a Mathew S. Salazar registered to vote in Harris County. He may have recently registered to vote, and the data may not yet be posted. Could not find a Mathew Salazar who owns property in Harris County. He could have the property listed in the “current owner’s” name.

In her announcement at the Harris County Civil Courthouse, Parker, 69, criticized the Trump administration and Texas’ GOP leadership, saying she wants to keep the county safe, affordable, and thriving.

“Donald Trump is throwing millions of Americans off healthcare to fund tax cuts for billionaires — and gutting FEMA, which pays for our local response to hurricanes, flooding and major disasters,” Parker said in a press release. “Greg Abbott and Dan Patrick are at war with Harris County, at war with women and people of color, and at war with public education.”

It was a solid effort on Parker’s part to establish her standing as a Democrat, but the announcement came days after Parker appeared on a Houston morning show with former Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg, who is under fire with local Democratic Party precinct chairs.

Party officials have criticized Ogg for targeting Democratic public officials and aligning herself with prominent Republicans. The Great Day Houston segment was about Pride Month, and Parker and Ogg spoke about holding public office as gay women.

Parker’s LGBTQ+ Victory Fund, where she has served as president and CEO since her last mayoral term, endorsed Ogg in the DA’s primary race against Sean Teare last year, which Teare won with an overwhelming majority.
