Can’t turn Harris County Bright Red if the following is what Houstonians are watching. Whitmire can claim that his directing PD to work with ICE to create fear in Houston’s residents is what is keeping those Gestapo, actually, the Gestapo did not cover their faces like bandits. Trump and his goons want to convey fear to all of us brown skinned folks. There is no other plausible reason for them to act as they do.
So Greg Abbott does not want the goons here, as he is smart enough to know that kind of spectacle will not turn Harris County Red. He prefers working with Democrats, or at least people who label themselves as such, to create the distraction and chaos needed to flip enough voters over to the MAGA cult side.
Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo is correct about Annise Parker and John Whitmire, as were the vast majority of Democratic Precinct Chairs who voted against John Whitmire.
Today, I want to send a clear message to Democratic primary voters in Harris County: Annise Parker doesn’t represent our values. This is not politically convenient for me—to speak against a known political player in our County. But I have found too many Democratic voters don’t know this—
Annise Parker heartily endorsed and hosted fundraisers for Kim Ogg. Even after it was clear that there was no substance behind her attacks on county employees that cost taxpayers millions of dollars.
She invited the TEA takeover of HISD.
In fall 2022 she refused to support our ticket when a far-right, election denying extremist ran against me. The opponent at the time, on the record, she refused to acknowledge that Joe Biden won the election.
She will follow John Whitmire’s playbook, capitulating to Donald Trump and Greg Abbott. Annise Parker is Kim Ogg 2.0
I will allow the other viable candidate to continue to make herself known. We do not need another John Whitmire, another Kim Ogg, etc. There is another option in our Democratic primary for County Judge.
The following is not what Greg Abbott wants to see Houstonians watching come next November, as it would turn Harris County from light blue to bright blue. Whitmire and Parker are part of the Greg Abbott package to facilitate the MAGA takeover of Harris County.
In Chicago, Greg Bovino, a senior Border Patrol official under Trump, returned with teams conducting aggressive operations across neighborhoods like Little Village and Cicero in Illinois. Video footage shows Bovino mocking residents, taunting them with profanity, and joking theatrically about enforcement actions. He referred to his presence as a kind of holiday spectacle.
This kind of intimidation is simply reprehensible. Chemical agents deployed against civilians. Public humiliation. Language that treats communities as enemies rather than constituents. And the people are pissed.
