Some time ago, I wrote that many Harris County officials were helping iCE

I will keep posting on how having Annise Parker as County Judge would add another MAGA-lite to that government entity. Annise Parker is cut from the same cloth as John Whitmire and Adrian Garcia. Adrian Garcia, as sheriff, delighted in deporting people; no other sheriff came close to matching Adrian Garcia’s gusto for deporting people. Not even the sheriff from Arizona, Joe Arpaio, in my opinion.

Adrian Garcia:

0:08 during his time in office and the Harris

0:10 County Sheriff offering a promise we’re

0:12 going to find them and we’re going to

0:14 put your butts in jail and a don’t make

0:16 any mistake about it your time is

0:17 limited we’re going to hunt you down

0:19 with all federal agencies FBI DEA and

0:22 ice

Lesley Briones, I can picture not being too far removed from Adrian Garcia’s mentality. We are here, we came here legally (Maybe yes, maybe no), so we don’t want your illegal kind here.

As I read an article about what happened in Charlotte, North Carolina, it dawned on me that here in Harris County, we taxpayers are paying for the roundup. We pay for the Sheriff’s deputies, the Constables, and the police departments that are now in the business of rounding up people here whose only crime may have been crossing a border seeking a better life. Should they be here? No, not if they did not come in properly. But too many have been here for decades, settled down, purchased houses, and raised their children, many of whom continue their education or join the military to serve the country of their birth.

What will the residents of Harris County get in return? Higher unsolved crimes, as witnesses will be afraid to step forward. Fewer crimes will be reported, and John Whitmire’s safer Houston will become a joke as the murder rate not only rises, but the police will find that many people will not step forward to help solve those crimes. If one does step forward, rest assured that the people who committed the crime, if caught, will know who reported them. Source

Now there is evidence that what I believed was happening is, in fact, happening, according to an article on Bing.

Houston leads the nation in immigration arrests, topping U.S. cities both for ICE arrests made in the community and for detentions carried out at jails and prisons , according to newly released government data.

From Jan. 20 to Oct. 15, according to data analyzed by the New York Times and made available by the Deportation Data Project, ICE reported 5,200  “at large” arrests in the Houston community.

Within the same time period, Houston also came out as the city with the most ICE arrests at jails and prisons, with a reported 9,300 detainments

President Donald Trump vowed to deport millions of people on the campaign trail. To deliver on that promise, the administration has rolled out a slew of tactics, such as closing the border to asylum-seekers, revoking legal status from recent arrivals, re-opening prisons to hold immigrant detainees and forcing local officials to allow ICE agents access to their facilities and databases.
