We have a TACO for President and a WACO for mayor.

Trump always chickens out, and Whitmire always chickens out. It is actually spelled wacko, but is pronounced waco.

It didn’t take long for Whitmire and Abbott to cook up a scheme to give Whitmire an excuse to keep allowing the police to target Hispanics, Mexican-looking people to be exact. If you don’t think there are police officers in Houston who would stop someone because of the way they look, the work that they do, then you are pretty damn stupid.

The extortion letter sent by Greg Abbott to John Whitmire.

First, the Houston Police Union. If I had to guess, I would label the officers of the union as racists, and they certainly seem to take special dislike of Latinas. My opinion on them, why else would they post something like that?

Now, for one thing, Lina Hidalgo is an attractive woman, so looking at her face would not make anyone but racists cringe.

What type of union posts things like that up on Facebook? I will link the image to Facebook, but it would not surprise me if they remove it, just as the man they probably voted for removed the image of himself as Christ.

“For those who missed our municipal political crisis, the City Council passed a new ordinance last Wednesday that prohibits officers from prolonging traffic stops for federal agents to arrive and execute civil immigration warrants. Houston Police Officers’ Union President Douglas Griffith then told Houston Public Media that the union would not support anyone who voted for it. That included the mayor.

By Thursday, however, Griffith’s claim was contradicted by a union statement explaining that the union’s political action committee, not the union itself, actually makes the endorsements. You can thank the Chronicle’s Matt deGrood for clearing up any confusion.” Source

My Thoughts on the police and ICE, here.

Now, the extortion letter sent by Greg Abbott is no different from the extortion or protection money letters that Donald Trump sends all the time. Abbott does not have the type of power the president of the United States has, so it’s probably just a dog-and-pony show to help Whitmire. It would not surprise me that Whitmire already knew that a letter was to be sent, so by voting for it, he looks like he is doing the right thing, but now his hands are tied by the wicked governor of Texas. So he has no choice but to have HPD keep doing what they are doing. Turning in all persons who are racially profiled or stopped, and may not be legally here in this country. I know that Latinos are not the only ones in Houston who are here illegally, but they seem to be the ones who are reported by the police. Paxton, who is running for US Senate, had to get into hating Latinos for his supporters. They hate Latinos, and this year they raised the Muslim community to a community to be feared more than the “Illegals.” Have to have people to hate when all you do when one controls government is make the rich richer and the poor poorer.

I don’t think we’ll get a breakdown of the $110 million PSO grant, but we may be surprised.

What is a PSO Grant:

A Texas PSO grant is funding administered by the Office of the Governor’s Public Safety Office (PSO) to support state and local efforts in public safety, criminal justice, and emergency preparedness. These grants, often managed through eGrants, fund initiatives like border security, victim services, crime reduction, and officer mental health.

Key details about Texas PSO grants include:

  • Purpose: To build, sustain, and deliver core capabilities to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from terrorism and other security threats.
  • Grant Areas: Programs often include Border Security (Operation Lone Star), Child Sex Trafficking, Crime Stoppers, Justice Assistance, Sexual Assault Survivors’ Task Force, and Terrorism Preparedness.
  • Available Funding: Hundreds of millions in state and federal dollars are awarded annually for projects such as body-worn cameras, bullet-resistant vests, and mental health support for officers.
  • Eligibility: Units of local government, state agencies, and non-profit organizations.
  • Application Process: All applications are submitted through the eGrants system.

.

Let’s find out if the city really does get that much money from the state yearly. It would surprise me if they do. But most importantly, let us find out if the State of Texas is really going to defund the police.
