Harris County Judge Race – Matt Salazar why not to support

Is Matthew “Matt” Salazar a Democrat?

All things being equal, I am more likely to vote for someone with physical characteristics similar to mine. But the race for Harris County Judge, the person with a Spanish surname, has a homestead in Montgomery County.

I had previously indicated that I could not find Matthew “Matt” Salazar registered to vote in Harris County. It would not surprise me that he registered to vote here after deciding to run for Harris County Judge.

Matt Salazar jumped into the race at the last minute; however, a website does not suddenly magically appear the minute it is posted online. It takes some time as the spiders that search the web have to run across it, so they must be led there. Mr. Salazaqr was there when I did a Google search the same day I saw his name running for the county judge position. He filed a campaign treasurer report on 11/12/25. Mr. Salazar is a mystery. The address he listed on his campaign report has no one registered to vote at that location. The same is true for the person who is designated as the campaign treasurer. I could not find a (Corrected spelling) Matthew S. Salazar registered to vote in Harris County. He may have recently registered to vote, and the data may not yet be posted. Could not find a Matthew Salazar who owns property in Harris County. He could have the property listed in the “current owner’s” name.

Houston Chronicle

Matthew Salazar, a 40-year-old Lubbock native and University of Houston graduate, is the only political newcomer running on the Democratic ticket for Harris County judge.

Salazar is a licensed real estate agent who has “sold land all over this state,” according to his campaign website. He also operates a small nonprofit, the Farwell Foundation, dedicated to providing housing and job training for the homeless. The foundation does not have a website and appeared to operate out of a residential address, according to public records.

Salazar also recently purchased Fastest Labs, a Tomball-based drug, alcohol and DNA testing facility. Salazar told the Houston Chronicle he stepped away from real estate to operate the lab and spend more time with his family.

I found a Matthew Solis Salazar that matched what the Chronicle wrote.

The information above identifies a church in the same vicinity as the address Salazar used to register to run for County Judge.

Montgomery County

Montgomery County is not far from the church and his place of business. I decided to see if he had a residence in Montgomery County. It seems he does, as it is listed under both his and his wife’s names.

I will let the Houston Chronicle or another blogger find out how Salazar has voted in the past, or whether he has voted at all.

CORRECTION: I had mispelled Mr. Salazar’s first name, but that has been corrected. Mr. Salazar pointed that out.

Also found where he is registered to vote after correcting the spelling error. I used the spelling above, as he has indicated that he is married to a person named Abby.

Waiting for Mr. Salazer to get back with me regarding the Montgomery County residence.
