Supreme court rules tariffs are illegal, trump will add 10% tariff to everything

So now Trump will add a tax, tariffs are a tax, of 10% to everything, which includes many of the foods that we eat.

The U.S. imports a wide variety of groceries to supplement domestic supply, with major imports including

coffee, fruits, vegetables, seafood, and cocoa. Key staples frequently imported include Mexican produce (onions, brassicas), Canadian mushrooms and potatoes, Southeast Asian rice, and European cheese. 

Commonly Imported Grocery Items

  • Produce: Bananas (Latin America), avocados, berries, citrus fruits, and mangoes.
  • Vegetables: Onions, shallots, and broccoli/cauliflower from Mexico.
  • Pantry & Grains: Rice from Thailand, nuts/seeds (cashews from Vietnam), and pasta from Italy.
  • Dairy & Oils: Cheese (Italy), olive oil, and various cooking oils.
  • Sweets & Coffee: Coffee beans (Central/South America), sugar from Mexico, and chocolates/confections from Europe.
  • Specialty Items: Gochujang (Korea), spices, sauces (tomato puree), and snacks like Tim Tams.

  • Mexico: Largest source for fruits, vegetables, and sugar.
  • Canada: Major supplier of meat, grain, and vegetables.
  • Central/South America & Asia: Primary sources for coffee, tropical fruits, and rice.
  • European Union: A major source for alcohol, cheese, and gourmet ingredients. 

Trump can’t keep his short, grubby little fingers away from our money. Constantly trying to think of new ways to take it.
