We need more people like Ms. Salinas who are willing to stand up for what is right. We can not be Jews in Nazi Germany; the same thing that happened is certainly possible today with the people in charge of our nation and in this state, Texas.
I doubt that John Whitmire or the HPOU, Police Union, will let the citizens know who has so much authority as to sign such a contract without a vote from the police officers.

If you listen very carefully, what you won’t find is that John Whitmire crowing that so many more recruits are joining the ranks of police officers. John Whitmire is a braggart, and he would be bragging about it if it were so.
That is what we are left with: deciding which ones are worse and crossing our fingers that we voted right.
What the HPOU representative is doing is something that Republicans have mastered: how to make Muslims, Illegals, transgender people, or anyone else that they are targeting a bogeyman.
Basically, what our mayor, John Whitmire, says is, yes, we’re going to call ICE, but don’t be afraid to call us. He must not think that we’re too smart.

I am sure that the Mayor of Houston will crow like a rooster about how he brought crime down in Houston, when the reality is that people are not reporting crimes, which they would have if they trusted the police.
Now, the governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, only has to call John Whitmire and tell him what he wants done. So why do we need a puppet to be our mayor?

Based on Griffith’s use of the term “Illegals” to describe people, he projects the image of a bigot who seems to hate “Illegals.” Does he hate all brown-skinned people or only the ones who are here undocumented? Is Griffith’s attitude common among police officers in Houston?
