I am sure that the Mayor of Houston will crow like a rooster about how he brought crime down in Houston, when the reality is that people are not reporting crimes, which they would have if they trusted the police.
Now, the governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, only has to call John Whitmire and tell him what he wants done. So why do we need a puppet to be our mayor?

f you want to see what our Houston Police Officers union thinks of undocumented persons here in Houston, you don’t have to look any further than a letter that they put out today after the City Council voted to stop the waste of police officers’ time waiting for ICE to maybe show up. Or the damage they have done to any type of relations that they had with the immigrant community.

No, I am not sent by God to do his work; it is just that I have seen the Latino community slide into the bowels of Houston, where they are now the lowest figure on the totem pole supporting all the others above. In the summer, the temperature in Houston can get over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Hot and humid, great if you are in bed with a beautiful woman, not so much when you are outside walking or working.
Thus, I suspect the money now sitting in a city account will be used to pay for critical things this budget year. The next budget year starts in the summer, so we survive by paying for today with tomorrow’s money.

If HPD seems to think that the immigrant community is ignorant of what they are doing, they are sorely mistaken. Whitmire and his policy have made Houston much more dangerous for us. People who would normally call in crimes will not do so, especially if their freedom is at risk or the risk of being separated from their families here.
So, in November, when the election comes around, if you want to do what is right, vote straight party ticket for the Democrats, including those like the judge that they wrote about.
I am not surprised that the Hispanic leadership here in Houston has not criticized him. Too many of them owe their political careers to him. Before running for office, almost without exception, they went to kiss the Don’s ring.
